When, a few years after the death of Stanisław Wisłocki, an outstanding conductor of the National Philharmonic, among his stuff discovered a collection of metal film cassettes, it became clear that we are dealing with sensation. The tapes contained the record of the first, historical, oceanic tour of the Philharmonic National in the USA and Canada from 1961. Stanisław Wisłocki, an avid filmmaker, recorded its course on 16 mm tape. The material lay 48 years. The very interesting historical, moral and political context (1961 is the year the Berlin Wall was built) makes „American Tournee” a universal tale of sociological and cultural character.
